LIFESTYLE NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY AT LEMON DROP STUDIO IN MCKINNEY, TEXAS
Welcome, Oliver!
Samantha reached out to me after finding me in a unique way - from a dog bakery that I always get my dog, Gatsby, his birthday cakes from! She showed up to their newborn session with a bag full of goodies for me to take home to Mr. G, it made my whole day!
Oliver was about 8 weeks old for his newborn session, which is a little older than the typical 1-3 week stage, but he was such a sweetheart the entire time!
They aren’t posting his face to social media, so you will only be seeing images in this blog where we got the back of his head or side profile. So many of my clients are leaning towards this with their littles, and I totally understand! If this is you - just let me know before hand and I’ll make sure we get some shareable shots that don’t show their face. I am more than happy to oblige!
That being said, I. am. obsessed. with this whole session! Lemon Drop Studio’s in Mckinney, Texas is truly one of a kind. We shot the first half of this newborn session in Studio B, and the second half outside at the greenhouse. We were lucky and got to be the first people to take photos with their brand new summer sets! I love that we were able to get some great neutral shots indoors, and some colorful vibes outside.

TIPS FOR A SMOOTH NEWBORN SESSION
Newborn sessions can feel overwhelming, you just had a baby which comes with so much change both emotionally and physically. I am here to make it feel relaxed, and to showcase the love you have for your newest tiny family member!
With lifestyle newborn photography there are two options for locations, in studio or in home. Both of these options can yield beautiful results, and both have their pros and cons.
I recommend studio sessions for those who:
-had an easy birth experience
-don’t care to make their home sparkling clean during the first few weeks of the newborn stage
-appreciate perfect, crisp lighting in photos
I recommend in home sessions for those who:
-are still recovering from their birth experience
-are able to ensure a clean and clutter free backdrop in at least one room of their home for photos
-have ample natural light in their home, or don’t mind a more moody vibe in their images (I do bring extra lighting, but it will never be the same as a studio with floor to ceiling windows)
Additional tips for an easy newborn session experience:
-schedule your session for a time your baby is typically sleeping or content
-have an outfit change for both you and baby in case of accidents
-white noise machines can work wonders
-wear neutral colors, bright colors against baby's skin creates a lot of color cast (discoloration)
-most importantly, relax, and soak up these moments with your newborn as I pose you and take photos that you will have forever to look back on this time
